This court case decided if separate but equal was constitutional and the decided it was not -
Scottsboro Boys (1931-1937)
This was a huge case in the south about 9 black kids accused of rape. The kids were innocent but proven guilty multiple times until they were exhumed on their record and proven innocent -
George Stinney case (1944)
This was a case about a 14-year-old black child convicted of murdering to white girls. He had a horrible trial and was convicted and given the electric chair. -
Brown v. Board (1954)
This court case determined separate but equal in schools was unconstitutional. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
This court case determined that discrimination on race, color, sex, or religion -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
This stopped racial discrimination in voting -
Civil Rights Act of 1968
the Civil Rights Act of 1968 stopped housing discrimination: Refusal to sell or rent a home to any person because of his/her race, color, religion -
California v. Bakke (1978) & Gratz v. Bollinger (2003)
This stopped the different people getting better schooling or getting into a school because of race alone -
Meredith v. Jefferson Co Board (2007) (Louisville school integration)
The main issue was the desegregation and integration in Seattle, Washington, and Louisville, Kentucky
