world war one began in europe. It began in 1914 however the Kansas didn't join until 1917. It had the nick name of 'The Great War'. World war one was the first war were chemical weapons and the first air attacks on civilians. -

The Kansas Ku Klux Klan (also known as KKK), was a group of American born, white, protestant males, 16 years of age or older. The Klan opposed anyone who was african american, an imagrant, Roman Catholic, or jewish. They burned crosses to scare people and ore masks and marched through the towns. The Klan would kidnapp, beat, and even kill people they didnt like. -

Fast Foods started in Kansas with a drive through window now its a worldwide industry. Its a quick easy way to eat food which has already been prepaired. -
Kansas City Jazz District
The great migration of African Americans from northern cities had an impact on many neighborhoods. The biggest neighborhood 18th and vine in kansas. This was the center of African american life. African Americans living in a segregrated society created their own businesses. One business being jazz clubs. These clubs created a new type of jazz. -
The Age of Play
in the 1920's many new games and fads spread across the nation. Sports became extremely popular, and Kansas had its own sports hero Walter Johnson. -

The stock market crashed in 1929 and caused a massive problem for almost everyone. The banks ran out of money and the farmers were running out of money so the price of the crops went up and most people couldnt afford to buy them, -
The Dust bowl
The dust bowl started as farmers who wanted rich soil so the kept planting and plowing crops and that caused the dust to start blowing around. That caused the biggest dust storm ever. Dust blowing so hard it got into childrens lungs and caused many deaths. -
The new deal
The new deal gave people hope and the chance to survive in hard economic times.
