I'm born on Vancouver Island. I have grown up here and plan to continue living here as my home base. -
Started first official job
I start my first official job as a public library page and buy my first car. -
Graduated high school
I graduate from Ballenas Secondary School in Parksville, BC. -
Started university
I start a degree in Creative Writing with the goal of working in publishing. -
Graduated from university
I complete my undergraduate degree- Bachelor of Arts (Major in Creative Writing, Minor in English). I make the decision to pivot to teaching rather than work in the publishing field. -
Started a post-baccalaureate degree
I start a post-baccalaureate education degree (secondary) from Vancouver Island university. -
Started a part-time job
I start a new part-time retail job at a local gift shop. -
Spent a month travelling in Europe
My sister and I take a trip to Europe for a month. England, Italy, and briefly France. -
Began teaching on call
I'm hired on as a teacher on call in SD69 (Parksville/Qualicum, BC) just before graduating from my program. -
Graduated with my post-bacc degree
I graduate from my post-baccalaureate degree. -
COVID-19 hit
After working for about 3 months as a TTOC (teacher on call), COVID-19 hits our area. After spring break, schools are not in session. For the rest of the school year TTOCs don't work.
I spend lots of time with family, adjusting to a different day to day. -
Taught in a contract
Full circle! I'm back at my high school...this time as a teacher. I'm hired on as a temporary contract Creative Writing and Composition teacher (Grades 10-12). Teaching alongside teachers from my high school days! -
Continued teaching on call
I continue teaching on call and realize I want to pursue a teacher-librarian position. I begin to research and discuss program options with colleagues. -
Applied for the Masters program at University of Alberta
I choose to apply for the Masters Program at the University of Alberta after hearing great reviews from a couple of local TLs who recently completed their degrees. Photograph- me penning in our puppy so I could get paperwork done -
Masters program began
This marks the official start of the Masters of Education- Online Curriculum and Pedagogy (following the TL path). I continue to teach on call for the two secondary schools in our district.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, baking, and recently photography. photograph-my study companion
