Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus decides to take the Pinta, the Niña, and the Santa María to discover America. He did, well at least that was what he thought, when he reached "America" he called the people there Indians because he thought he had reached the indies. After a while Europeans had notice that Chris had discovered a route to continents that "no one else had discovered". -

John Cabot
In 1497 King Henry VII sent John Cabot on a voyage to find more northerly route than the one that Columbus had found. What he did find was rich or good fishing grounds off Newfoundland (Candain Province) in which he claimed it to Europe. -
1513
Vasco Núñez de Balboa
Vasco in 1513 had discovered a big mass of water in which he named South Sea. He is also known for being the first European to see the Pacific Ocean. -
1520
Ferdinand Magellan
Ferdinand reached Balboa's South Sea and decided to change its name to Pacific (peace) Ocean. His Crew was happy because they were going back home, but Ferdinand wanted to explore more so they would find Spice Island ( it would take them about 3 weeks). In four months he had explored more of the Pacific that he could imagine until March 1521 he reached the Philipines. He had got himself into a local incident and got killed, however, his crew and one ship were known for Circumnavigate earth.
