    D: A group of nationalists planned to kill the archduke during his to Sarajevo, and after some missteps, 19-year-old Gavrilo Princip was able to shoot the royal. GE: Made his people mad, and caused WWI. ME: Led to the outbreak of WW1 and the subsequent political and social changes that followed in the 20th century. WI: If this hadn’t happened maybe WWI wouldn’t have happened or would have happened after because of something else.

    D: Austria-Hungary invades Russia. Battles on the eastern front included a strong Austro-Hungarian invasion of Russia through Prussia and Poland. GE: Many deaths and destruction. ME: It led to the rise of communism, the tensions of the Cold War, the formation of the United Nations, and changes to the geopolitical landscape of Europe and Asia. WI: If this hadn’t happened many people would not have lost their lives and belongings.
  • Panama Canal transforms U.S and global economy

    D: The Panama Canal was opened to traffic it is one of the largest public investments of its time.It is also considered to be vitally important to the United States economy GE: Pacific oceans couldn't flow into each other, because there are hills in between. ME: The Panama Canal is important because in modern day it generates income and jobs. WI: If there were no locks in the Panama canal, the Atlantic and Pacific oceans couldn't flow into each other.

    D: The Austro-Hungarian government declares war on Serbia. European countries declare war upon one another. GE: Telegram of Austria-Hungary's declaration of war on Serbia on 28th July 1914. ME: It triggered the outbreak of WW1, the redrawing of borders in Europe, and the Cold War tensions that followed WI: If this hadn’t happened WW1 would not have started and they wouldn’t have been the ones to start it, maybe other nations would have had some other problem that caused a war.

    D: Italy withdrew from the Triple Alliance of Austria-Hungary, Germany and Italy. Italy claimed dominion over the Italian-speaking areas of Austria-Hungary. GE: The Italian declaration opened up a new front in World War I, stretching 600 kilometers ME: Because of this war and Italy winning they achieve territory expansion. WI: If this wouldn't had happen the war wouldn't had happen, next businesses between these countries would not be resolved and hey would still live with injustices.

    World War I Influences Suffrage Movement Successes

    D: The suffrage movement was adopted by women. The president Woodrow Wilson changed his position to support an amendment. This event happened in Seneca Falls, New York, and drew over 300 people, mostly women. GE: Women were able to vote in different parts of the country. Child mortality went down by 15%. ME: Woman are now able to vote. WI: Women would not be able to vote or they would have been given the right years later.

    D: Wilson cited Germany's violation of its pledge to suspend unrestricted submarine warfare in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean, declaring war.
    GE: It had been foreseen in 1916 that if the United States went to war, the Allies' military effort against Germany would be upheld by U.S.
    ME: It has affected today because they now have an accelerated income tax and urbanization
    WI: If this would never happen the US would not have had this economical power they have.
  • Armistice Day Marks Close of ‘War to End All Wars’

    D: Germany signed an armistice agreement with the Allies. World War I was known as the “war to end all wars” because of the great slaughter and destruction it caused. GE: This event ended hostilities between the Allies and Germany. ME: To this day, the armistice day is commemorated since it was a day of tribute to veterans of both war. WI: The hostilities wouldn't have ended when they did, they would have taken longer.
  • Paris Peace Conference Leads to League of Nations, Embittered Germany

    D: The war’s victors led by the United States, Britain, and France, dominated conversations regarding terms of peace and multiple treaties resulted. GE: This separate peace treaty with Germany stipulated that the United States would enjoy all “rights, privileges, indemnities, reparations or advantages” ME: It forced major territorial concessions from Germany and limited army and navy. WI: The peace treaty would have happened differently or maybe it wouldn’t have happened.
  • Treaty of versailles takes effect

    D: The primary treaty produced by the Paris Peace Conference at the end of World War I. GE: It ended World War I. ME: Thanks to this, the War ended which meant no more suffering for them. WI: Thousands of people more would have died if the war didn't end there.
