Giving a speech

  • Ask friend if I could say thank you

I wanted to say thank you to my school, to my teachers, and to my classmates for all the help they've given me throughout the year, so I asked my friend, the school president, if it would be possible to.
  • Period: to

    Timespan

  • Friend arranges it so I can

  • Write speech in English

Because english absoultly cannot be translated directed to Latvian, and that is the only way I knew how to speak if I traslated what I want to say in english to latvian. So I wrote my speech in english
  • Friend translates speech

My friend took my speech and helped me translate it so that it would make sense in Latvian.
  • Practice speech

I sat in the park with my friend for hours practicing my speech so that I would be sure to not mess it up or mispronounce any words
  • The nerves set in

As I was walking to school in the morning I started getting really nervous
  • More nerves

At the final assembly, right before I was supposed to go up, I started really freaking out.
  • Speaking

The time came to actually start speaking, and as I got going, I got comfortable
  • Standing ovation

As I finished I got a standing ovation from the whole school
  • Confidence

I know now that because I was able to speak in front of a large crowd not in my native language, I will have no problems with speaking in front of people in ever again
