The Government decided to take control of immigration and convert the island into an Immigration station. This was the first day the station opened. It allowed more than 700 immigrants to enter America. -

This was a party founded in America during the progressive era. This party wanted to spread the idea of stable income and equality for citizens. Many Socialists wanted to reform American economics and see an end to capitalism. -

Woodrow Wilson was the 28th president of the US. He leads a progressivism movement by fighting for labor rights, and a stronger government. During his time in office, he was able to equal the playing field between the state's national Governments. -
19 Amendment
This Amendment was the result of several years of protest from women. This Amendment guaranteed women the right to vote and was put into the Constitution. Because of this Amendment women were given the opportunity to be more active in America's decisions moving forward. -
Ellis Island Closes
This was the year that the government decided to close Ellis island. This meant that no more people could enter the country. because of this, the government would save about 900,000 a year.
