James Oglethorpe was an influential lawmaker who wanted to find jobs for people. James wanted a way to find jobs for the poor. In 1730, so he sent a petition to King George II asking for land to establish a new colony. King George agreed and the colony was named Georgia after King George II.

The Georgia Aquarium has some of the most amazing sea life. Whales, fish, sharks, and octopuses call the GA Aquariu home. Sadly, one of the whales died December 1, 2007. Marina was a beluga whale. They are very pretty animals, and so was Marina.
