He was the first explorer from Spain to enter Georgia. Hernado was looking for the 3 G's (God,Glory,and Gold) but mostly gold, However he never found any and died before could.

After De Soto died in 1542 they carried on the missions for a few more hundred of years. These missions were around the Okeefeokee Swamp and a few small places more. The vreason for the missions was because to spred religion and take/find gold. They had stoped because of many attacks.

James helped create Georgia's first city, Savannah. Hecreated many laws to keep the place in order and tried to create a peaceful city. He had left Savannah in 1742 because of the complains of the malcontents.

The first indians to ever be in Georgia's land were these type of indians.They hunted with sharp weapons called a "Clovis" and hunted mammoths and small animals. Then made houses out the skin from the animals they killed.
