Generetion of computer

  • Period: to

    1st generation

Charles Babbage was the one who created the first computer. UNIVAC and ENIAC computers are examples of first generation components. THE UNIVAC was the first commercial computer delivered to a customer. the firts computer use vacum tube (was expensive, big and slow)
  • Period: to

    2st generation

The second generation of computers replaced vacuum tubes with transistors. That is why second generation computers are smaller and consume less electricity than those of the previous one.
  • Period: to

    3 generaation

The third generation of computers emerged with the development of integrated circuits (silicon chips) in which thousands of electronic components are placed in a miniature integration. At the end of the 1950s, the invention of the integrated circuit or chip occurred.
  • Period: to

    4 generation

Fourth Generation of computers was between 1971 – 1980. These computers used the VLSI technology or the Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) circuits technology. Therefore they were also known as the microprocessors. Intel was the first company to develop a microprocessor.
  • Period: to

    5 generation

This generation is based on parallel processing hardware and AI (Artificial Intelligence) software. AI is an emerging branch in computer science, which interprets the means and method of making computers think like human beings. All the high-level languages like C and C++, Java, . Net etc., are used in this generation.
