Genghis Khan was born in north central Mongolia in 1155 under the name Temujin. -

Father Dies
After being invited to a dinner by the Tatar tribe, his father was poisoned, and Khan tried to take the position of clan leader. However the clan refused to be lead by a young boy and his family was basically refugees. -

Marriage to Borte
Khan married Borte, a member of the neighboring tribe the Konkirat. After their marriage, Borte was kidnapped by the Merkit tribe. Genghis Khan then was able to get Borte back, who soon gave birth to her first son Jochi. -

Genghis Khan's Enslavement
Genghis Khan was kidnapped and enslaved but escaped. He then joined his brothers and other in a fighting unit, and built and army of 20,000 men. He then brutally murdered other tribes such as the Tatar and Taichi'ut. -

Gained Control of Central and Eastern Mongolia
After he defeated the Naiman tribe he gained control of the central and eastern area of Mongolia. After the defeat of rival tribes, Temujin was given the title "Genghis Khan" or "universal ruler". He was then declared the "supreme god of the Mongols". -

Forced the Defeat of Xi Xia
Genghis Khan led his forces to the Xi Xia kingdom, and forced them to surrender after two years. -

Strike of the Jin Dynasty
Lasting 20 years, Khan led his armies to the city, entised by the rice fields and easy ways of wealth. During the plundering of the city, his armies also were fighting in the west against bordering empires and against countries in the Muslim world. -

Pax Mongolica- The Attack on the Khwarizm Dynasty
The governor of Otrar attack a trading caravan, believing it was a cover for a spy mission. Khan demanded to see the governor and sent a diplomat to get him. However the leader of the Khwarizm Dynasty, Shah Muhammad, refused and sent back the head of the diplomat. The attacks on the Dynasty began in 1219, when the Mongols began the savage destruction of the city. They killed every living thing including livestock. The death of Shah Muhammad and his son ended the Khwarizm Dynasty in 1221. -

The Death of Genghis Khan
Khan dies after he put down the revolt of the Xi Xia. They refused to send troops to aid in the Khwarizm attacks, and he had to defeat the enemy armies.
