There he studied law. Aug 22, 1894 Gandhi founded the Natal Indian Congress.It helped fight discrimination against indians. Sep 11, 1906 Gandhi believes in nonviolent protest. He supports the war in order to earn full citizenship. Jan 10, 1908 Gandhi was arrested for the first time. He was arrested because he refused to carry an ID card in South Africa. Jan 9, 1915 Gandhi returns from South Africa to live in India. Dec 14, 1921 Gandhi becomes leader of the INC. Oct 14, 1930 Gandhi was sentenced to jail for breaking the Salt Laws. He started the Salt march. May 5, 1932 Gandhi demanded better treatment of the Untouchables Aug 8, 1942 Gandhi started the Quit India Movement. It was a policy of non-cooperation with Britain. Aug 5, 1947 Gandhi refused to celebrate India's independence due to violence. Nov 14, 1947 India got their independence from the help of Gandhi Jan 12, 1948 Gandhi fasted for 12 days. He did it to end the Hindu/Muslim violence. Jan 30, 1948 Gandhi got killed. On his way to Pakistan, he was shot and killed by Nathuram Godse. He was a Hindu extremist.
