    Microsoft's first home console that was made to rival Sony's PlayStation 2. It was the first video game console offered from an American company since Atari. Notable games from this console are Halo and Halo 2, Fable, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old republic

    Nintendo first console that took advantage of optical disc. Using mini DVD's this console was meant for gaming and gaming only unlike other consoles of this generation. Sold 21.74 million units worldwide before it was discontinued in 2007.

    Microsoft's follow up to the original Xbox this console was the highest selling console made by and american company. Notable games of this console are Halo 3, Skyrim, and Dark Souls
  • Nintendo Wii was released in North America

    Known for its motion controllers this console provided a new way to play games. Being known for the high demand for this console in 2009 it broke the sales record for consoles sold in a month period. It sold a total of 101 million units
