Divided French Society/Financial Troubles
3 estatesFrance divided into 3 social clases. the first estate was cleargy the 2nd estate was nobility and the 3rd estate was peasants and everyone eles. The 3rd estate had to pay taxesbut the 1st and 2nd estate didnt. France had finacial Troubles like deficits spending on 7 year war and american revolution.bad harvest caused food prices and taxes go up. Louis XVI lived lauishly while the peasants couldnt even buy food. -
Louis XVI calls the estates-general
all 3 estates were presents.The 1st and 2nd cestate out voted the 3rd estate. The 3rd estate created created a national assembily.and took the tennis court oath. They promised to stay there until they made a constitution. -
Revolts/ Great fear
great fear was caused by famine. the food shortage made bread cost 1 month wages. they were political crisis and high unemployment. they were rumors that goverment troups were attacking villages and takeing crops. peasants set fires and stole grain. -
Stroming the bastille
800 parisians assenbled ouside the bastille demanding gunpower and weapons. The commander inside refused to open door then opened on the crowd. The crowd broke in killed commander and his guards and set prisoners free. They found no gunpower or weapons. -
Rights of man
Declared all men were created equal. All men had the rigght to hold office. had freedom of religion and taxes to be levied. -
Woman march
six thousand woman marched 13 miles from paris to versailles. They wante to see the king for food.they madethe king and queen prisoner for 3 yeaars. -
Church
The cathic church was under state control. Bishops and priets became salaried officials. There did away with convest and monastervies. -
The constitution
The costitution of 1791 set up a limited monarchy. Anew legistative assemably had power to make laws and collect taxes. Male citizen over 25 voted for law makers. all man where equal church didnt get involed -

King of Prussia and emperor of Austria Threaten to intervene to protect the French king. -
Civil War
There two gruopd of radicals called sans-culottes adn the jacdins. sans-culottes where working class men ans women whos wore long trousers. The jacodins were middle class educated poeple. They made newspapers and brochures to tell what they disliked about the king. -

The people wanted the king back. The peple turned to Napoleon Bonaparte a military hero to lead them.
