An Advertising Life for Me!
My first job after college with a boutique advertising company in Clearwater, FL. This is where I got my first taste of digital technology in a professional form via the company's Creative Department. -
Met my Career Changer
I met my husband, who would later be the caveat that completely changed my career path and that would lead to the inspiration towards my growing passion of educational technology, eLearning, and distance/online education. -
A Move to Education??!!
Meeting my husband who was a guidance counselor at a local high school inspired me to make the move to education, where I could make a difference in student lives. -
Writing for an Online Classroom??
I was asked to write online curriculum for a potential new program that our county would offer students in a few years - a 100% online learning option for students in grades 6-12. I spent the summer formatting secondary English curriculum with a team of a few other teachers. This is where I realized how difficult, challenging, and wildly creative one had to be when trying to engage students outside of a brick and mortar classroom. -
Get SMART!
Moved from the classroom to professional development as the Project Manager for the SMART Board program in our school district, where I would get to teach and train teachers and other faculty/staff across the county how to use and incorporate SMART teaching. -
Added a Kid
I had my first kid and decided that I wanted to move back to a 10-month work schedule as a teacher from my current 12-month work schedule as the SMART Project Manager. I was sad to leave my position, but little did I know - opportunity was about to knock! -
I'm Going Virtual!
I was asked to teach high school English for our county's new virtual education program. I loved my very SMART job, but the idea of writing and creating curriculum to be used in a totally online learning environment was too interesting to pass up! -
A Blogger's Life For Me??!!
I took an online part time job as a contributing writer for a professional website. After this contract ended, I was offered another writing opportunity with a larger SEM company writing on a number of different topics for different clients. This was a huge reminder of how digital technology in the form of SEO and PPC marketing have emerged as incredibly important topics that students need to learn about. -
Time for a Master's Degree!!
It has been almost 8 years that I have been designing, writing, and teaching online curriculum for my county's virtual educational program - I figured it was time to 'get official' and work towards a Master's Degree in Instructional Design. My goal is to hone my skills as an instructional designer and learn as much as I can to help further eLearning, as well as promote the successes of distance education. -
