The Japanese army escalated its ‘sweep’ of the base areas, and the CPC established a solid regime behind enemy lines. 6th and 9th August 1945: Atomic bombs exploded in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. August 15: Japan announced its surrender. September 2: Japan signed the instrument of surrender, which led to the victory in the War of Resistance and the end of World War II. -
