Period: to
From Poland to America
My journey from my home Poland, to my new home, Oregon, America. -
Land Galore!
Since there was much land at a low price in America, this convinced us to immigrate to America. -
Leaving Home
Because of our loss of land, my husband and I decide to leave our home country, Poland. -
Emigrating by Steamship
Though we were saddened to leave our home and most of our possessions, we cheered with joy as the steamship left Europe. -
The Symbol of a New Life
As the Statue of Liberty came into view, all passengers aboard the steamship shouted with triumph and cried with joy. At last, we are free! -
Ellis Island
After the steamship had docked, we were all escorted of the ship and into a large building. Neither I nor Feliks knew English, thus everything was overwhelming and confusing. -
Work for the West
In order that we may travel to the great west, my husband and I found jobs, and worked for a year until we had earned enough money. -
The Second Half of Our Journey
As soon as we had the money, Feliks and I bought a horse and wagon, and started our journey west. -
Home at Last!
After a long and tiring journey, we have finally settled into our new home! As soon as we reached Oregon, Feliks and I bought our land, and we now have a fruitful farm. -
The Beginning of the End
Though the journey was long, perilous and difficult, we have at last settled into America. I hope and pray that we may live peacefully and prosper well.
