    Community Colleges were first created in America to serve as access to a higher education. Enrollment increased after WW2 because of the GI Bill of Rights.
    Students can transfer to other schools to complete their baccalaureate degree, encourage life long learning, economic development and support the communities they reside in.     The area served by SMCC where residence that were living in the tmajority of South Phoenix, around the Baseline Road corridor, that was bordered by the Salt River on the north, Tempe on the east, Laveen on the west, and county border on the south which included the Gila River Indian Community.

  • SMCC Technology Center

    A bond election in 1994 allowed all 10 Maricopa County Campus to build additional buildings, and the SMCC Technology Center was created. in 2004 another bond was applied and LAveen and Guadalupe locations had updates.

    Its official the Guadalupe SMCC campus will be built! It will accommodate up to 500 students. Let not forget SMCC courses have been held here in other locations around Guadalupe. Its nice to have a place to call your own....
