In April of 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theater during the production of "Our American Cousin." -
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Assassination
Like Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in April during the '60s (though King was killed in the 1960s rather than the 1860s). Another coincidence is that the day they were killed also ended in the numer "4." -
Marrell McCollough
Marrel McCollough is in this famous photo that was taken shortly after Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed. It is said that he rested King's head in his lap after he (King) was shot. -
The Memphis Police Department
Unkown to the civil rights activists at the time, Marell McCollough was actually an undercover cop sent by the Memphis Police Department to infiltrate a black power youth group. -
The FBI
The FBI covered up the fact that the Memphis Police Department had sent a cop undercover into a black power youth group. It was not until much later that the civil rights activists and the general public learned what McCollough was really doing there, and has since sparled conspiracy theories involving the FBI and CIA. -
The CIA
The FBI and CIA worked together to investigate what really happened in King's assassination. Also, McCollough joined the CIA six years after the famous civil rights activist was killed, which caused further speculation about the CIA's role in the assassination.
