The estates general was a meeting where the Three Estates were present (the clergy, the nobility, and the Third Estate). It was called by Louis XVI as he was concerned about France's economic crisis. The meeting was to reform the tax system (unfair to the Third Estate) which was in place. This led to the creation of the National Assembly. I believe this is important because it is the event that started it all.

The Establishment of The National Assembly was when the Third Estate came together and declared itself the National Assembly. This was the first revolutionary government of the French Revolution. It existed from June 14th to July 9th, 1789. I consider this event important because it's when the Third estate transformed into something new and decided to work together and start the revolt.

The Tennis Court Oath was an oath that took place on June 20th, 1789. The Third Estate was locked out of their usual meeting hall at Versailles. They gathered in an Indoor Tennis court (thus the name) and took an oath to stay together until France had a written constitution. This event is important because it was a major action against the Monarchy and got a lot of the people's support.

The Bastille was a French prison and fortress. It was seized by Parisians on July 14th, 1789. They were in search of guns and weapons that they believed were stored there. In France, July 14th is remembered as Bastille day. This event is important because it shows the uproar of the citizens as they were revolting against injustice. This was the first major event (that is remembered) during the French Revolution.

This Declaration is a civil rights document that was established during the French Revolution. It has 24 articles, the last of which was adopted on the 26th of August, 1789. It is a list of rights and was one of the most important documents. I the establishment of this document as a whole was really important during the French Revolution as the people had a list of rights that they could go off of.

Thousands of armed women rioted over the rising price of bread. They got weapons and marched to the palace to tell the king to return with them to Paris. They were brutal, killing guards and injuring many. This event is important because it is regarded as one of the most significant events of the French Revolution. The women revolted and got the King and Queen to leave their palace.

King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette tried to flee from France to the Austrian Netherlands. The royal family did this in an attempt to start a counter-revolution! They were unsuccessful and ended up getting caught and brought back to Paris. This event is important because it ultimately led to his execution in 1793.
  • Execution of Louis XVI

King Louis XVI caused a lot of debt to France, ruined the economy, and also was hated by the Third Class (majority of France). He was beheaded by guillotine in the Place de la Revolution. This moment is important because King Louis XVI caused a lot of problems for France and he was revolted against during the French Revolution. His execution shows that the people hated him and it was a happy time for most people.

The Reign of Terror was a very violent period during the French Revolution. It was controlled by the Committee of Public Safety, which was led by Maximilien de Robespierre. At least 300,000 people were arrested, with many public executions and massacres. The reign of terror ended with the fall of Robespierre in 1794. This event is important because it got rid of the people that were against the Revolution (Clergy, nobility, and Royalists).
  • Execution of Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette was beheaded on the guillotine 9 months after her husband, King Louis XVI. She was the Queen of King Louis and together caused France to fall into an economic crisis. The royal family tried to escape in 1791 but failed, which is something that contributed to her execution. This execution is important because she was hated along with King Louis VXI and her execution was for the good of France.
