Call Of The Estates General
This is where the three estates; nobility, clergy, and peasants, all met up to solve some of their nations problems. They discussed things like the rise in taxes on bread, how they were going to come back from the wars they were in, and how they were going to compensate for the long famine their nation had been experiencing. When all the estates came back, the third estate was locked out. -
The Tennis Court Oath
After the Third estate was locked out of the estate general's meetings, they moved to an inside tennis court and began to call themselves the National Assembly. While there, they took the Tennis Court Oath. They vowed not to leave France until they got a new constitution. Soon the second estate got on board with them. The king followed shortly after. -
Storming of the Bastille
The peasants had gotten tired of everything and began a revolution. they had guns, torches, and pitchforks but they did not have the gun power. Earlier in the month, a bunch of gun powder was delivered to the Bastille. The peasants saw their chance and stormed the Bastille and began looting. They got everything they would need for a successful revolution. -
Declaration of Rights of Man
The National Assembly created a constitution making everyone equal. This said many things including changing the taxes so it was not all on the third estates shoulders. The main thing they changed was that everyone would be executed the same way. From this was born the guillotine. -
March on Versailles
on October 5th, around 7,000 burly women marched to Versailles from Paris. They had muskets and pitchforks in hand ready to fight to get some bread. When they finally got to Versailles, they didn't necessarily care about the bread anymore, they cared about Marie Antoinette. These women stormed the castle looking for the queen, threatening to kill her. Marie just barely escaped to her husbands room before the angry mod of women killed Marie's bodyguards, and destroyed her bed room. -
Royal Family Attempts to Flee
At this point in time, the King and Queen realize they have a revolution in their hands. They know that most people in their position do not make it out alive usually. They dress up as peasants and try to flee from Versailles. They make it quite a ways before they are stopped and recognized. They are taken back to Versailles, then moved to France in a carriage with their guards heads on spikes right outside of their carriage. -
Civil Constitution of the Clergy
The French revolutionary government created the Civil Constitution of the Clergy in order to lessen the power of the Catholic church. Of course the third class, or the clergy, did not like this. Up to this point, they were the top dogs. The only ones above them was the King and Queen. Now they are losing their power because of this new constitution. -
Execution of the King
On September 21, 1792, King Louis XVI's plans to counteract the revolution was discovered. They charged him and jis family with treason. 4 months later, King Louis XVI was executed by the guillotine. -

Reign of Terror
The Reign f Terror began when Marie Antoinette was imprisoned and executed. Robespierre took all of the blaim for this time. He told the rest of his co-workers that they should stop killing everybody. At that point, they had killed nearly 30,000 people and he thought it was time to stop. His co-workers though, did not share his opinion. They cut of his head thus ending the reign of terror. -

Napoleonic Control
Napoleon began his dictatorship after Robespierre was executed. He became ruler because many people were impressed by Napoleon's speaking skills. While he was in control, he wanted to take down the council of five. He was going to until his brother was elected the president. Also during his time as ruler, he had to bring France out of a bad position. There were so many unemployed individuals along with their government being bankrupt. Napoleon made France great again.
