Napoleon won the hearts of men and women of French by being a great general and having great military skills. By 1799 there was not set form of government so the people of France urged Napoleon to take over as their new leader. -
Calling of the Estates Grerneal
The king called the Estates General for permission to tax 1st and 2nd estates. When voting, each estate had one Representative and 1 vote to their decision. This upset the 3rd estate is upset because of the unfair representation. -
Formation of the National Assembly
The National Assembly was the 3rd estates reaction to for their own government body. Pride of the people was very important to their new government body because they wanted everyone to be treated fair. Nationalism was a big aspect in this government. -
Tennis Court Oath
The tennis court oath was a meeting of some third estate people, aristocrats, clergy, and bourgeoisie after the National Assembly. Without the king’s permission the people of France meet up and rejoiced and embraced one another about the new Oath that would change France forever. -
Attack on the Bastille
King Louis XVI ordered royal troops to surround Paris and the people didn’t like that. They believed he was trying to over throw the assembly. This Bastille was mobbed be rioters trying to steal gun powder and other weapons they could get their hands. -
French women force Loius XVI to leave Versalles
In Paris , the march of women began to force Louis XVI and and Marie Antoinetteto stop with holding the all of their grains. They had cannons and weapons at the Palace of Versailles to try and stop them from leaving Paris. -
Declaration of war against Austria
The French people wanted a war against
Austria, but their leader didn’t. Robespierre did not want to start a war because he knows that he has no army to defeat the enemy and that Austria would come in a destroy the revolution. By the end of the war Louis the XVI is stripped from his power and planned to be executed. -
The National Convention is formed
The National Conventions was a critical period of the French Revolution. It was a legislative assembly and held executive power. Also in the making of this convention the monarchy was abolished. -
Louis XVI is exsecuted
He tried to Flee the country in 1791 but was caught. He was charged with treason and family was arrested. He sowed his people that he was a coward. After his trial he was publically beheaded so the people cloud witness the end of the Monarchy. -
The Reign of Terror
The Reign of Terror was named after Robespierre’s reign because of the way he treated French people. He would have tried people in the morning and guillotined in the afternoon. He believed fear and terror was nothing more than justice. -
The Thermidorian Reaction
After the Reign of Terror, the committee and public safety voted to have Robespierre executed for the causing one of the worst phases France could have. This represented the first moderate stage of change in the French society. -
The Directory if formed
The directory was a two house legislature and an executive body of five men. It was also unable to solve France’s finantial crisis and food shortage -
Napoleon Invades Russia
This event was one of Napoleons great mistakes. He invaded Russia with an army of 680,000 men in the winter, and by the end of the war returned home with 120,000. The harsh winter months caused many deaths of the soldiers. -
Napoleons defeat at Waterloo
The Battle of Waterloo was the last stand of the great Napoleaon.After he fought his last betle he was sent to the island of St.Helena to live out the rest of his days alone.
