The representatives of the French people have determined to set forth in a solemn declaration to the rights of man, It shall remind them continually of their rights and duties. The National Assembly recognizes and proclaims the following rights of man and citizen -
Bread Riots
7,000 working women marched in the rain from Paris to Versailles. The women chanted "Bread! Bread!" because the people were starving. They saw Marie Antoinette and she said "let them eat cake", but that didn't made them feel better. The mob entered and demanded so see the queen. THe women demanded the king to distribute bread to paris and they used Marie as a bargain chip. -
Assembly reforms France
The state confiscated all the church's land and used it to back a new french currency called the assignat. Months later the Church fell victom to the Civil Constitution of the Clergy. -
Royal family attempts to escape
King Louis XVI and his family attempted to escape into Austria because Marie's brother was the emperor at that time. But the plan failed and they returned to paris to accept any demands that the people wanted and they were prisoners in their own home -
