    The Estates General Meets
    The Estates General have not meet for 175 years. A Meeting of the Estates General with all three estates the clergy, the nobility, and the commoners. The commoners have no power due to the nobility and clergy's power.
  • National Assembly

    National Assembly
    Headed by riots and anger by the people to the monarchy. The third estate declares themselves the National Assembly. This makes them an actual power ruled by the people.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    Tennis Court Oath
    A meeting between members of the third estate and vow to keep meeting until a fair and true French constitution is made. They held such meetings due to the third estates meeting hall being closed. Guards and chains barricading the doors closed which caused outrage.
  • Storming of Bastille

    Storming of Bastille
    The commoners raid the Bastille for stealing gunpowder and releasing prisoners. They also begin to dismantle the stronghold with their bare hands. One of the first major victories for the revolution.
  • Declaration of Rights of Man and of the Citizen

    Declaration of Rights of Man and of the Citizen
    The Declaration of Rights for French citizens and basic civil rights with the removal of tyranny. Its mostly comparable to how the Americans made their Constitution. This confirms the French Revolution is successful.

    The women marched onto Versailles and forced the king and queen to return to Paris. The women invaded the palace and overwhelmed the guards. They targeted the queen in order to threaten the king to surrender but couldn't find her.

    The King and Queen try to sneak out of France to escape the revolution but was found out miles from the border. They were given away just from one royalist who bowed to the royal family and the revolutionary guards noticed. They are sent back to Paris with discontent within the Royalist eorale of repairing the monarchy.

    Creation of National Convention
    Assembly created the Convention because at the demand of Robespierre. Otherwise there might have been I violent uprising. This was the most important point of the revolution.
  • Louis the 16th is Executed

    Louis the 16th is Executed
    After attempting to flee France from the revolution. This event led to being convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers. Sentenced to death and was executed by guillotine in Paris.
  • The Reign of Terror

    The Reign of Terror
    Rapid trials of any threats to the revolution. Any opposed to government was arrested and imprisoned. The royalty was tried for treason even during this time.
  • Marie Antoinette is executed

    Marie Antoinette is executed
    In prison Marie Antoinette received luxuries leading up to the execution. The last queen of France was executed by guillotine. Shortly after this execution 6000 prisoners were all executed on the same day.
  • Maximilien Robespierre Executed

    Maximilien Robespierre Executed
    Gave a violent speech against traitors within the Committee of Public Safety without naming the culprits. After being attacked by the people the committee arrested him. He is then executed with will be the last execution of the reign of terror.
  • France is Ruled by a Directory

    France is Ruled by a Directory
    The reign of terror is ended after the execution of Robespierre. The monarchy is a distant memory. The directory is a new government to replace the Republic.
