Tennis court Oath
The Tennis Court Oath was a result of the growing aggrivation of the Third Estate in France. King Louis XVI desired to hold on to the country to absolute government. The people of the Third Estate were coming together for a meeting to discuss the reforms. -
Fall of Bastille
websiteLois XVI was worried by the action of the Third Estate and threatened to dissolve the Estates General after the tumultuous events surrounding the Tennis Court Oath. -
The Declaration of the Rights of Man
The repesentatives of the French created and organized a national assembly. This assembly told many of the god given rights to men. For example "Men are born and remain free and equal in rights. Social distinctions may be founded only upon the general good." -
Great Fear
After the Bastille rebellion, pesants began to become suspicious about the local activities and started to attack nobles with pitch forks and torches. -
Woman March on Versailles
websiteOn October 4, 1789, a crowd of women demanding bread for their families gathered other Parisians, including some men, and marched toward Versailles, arriving soaking wet from the rain. They demanded to see "the Baker," "the Baker's wife," and "the Baker's boy". The King agreed to meet with some of the women and promised to distribute all the bread in Versailles to the crowd. -
Civil Constitution of Clergy
On July 12 1790, the National Assembly passed the Civil Constitution of the Clergy. This was the altering of the catholic church and changed its relationship with the state. -
Constitution of 1791
websiteOn the day of the Tennis Court Oath, the National Assembly had declared that it would not disband until a new constitution had been created for France. The new constitution created by these moderate revolutionaries declared France to be a constitutional monarchy. -
The Royal Escape
Nearing the end of King Louis XVI's power over France, he began to feel threatened. The constant threat of the collapse of the monarch bothered him and when he began to act the revolution began. This led to his atemp escape with his family. They were caught. -
Declaration of Pilnitz
websiteAfter the King fled to Varennes, the Austrians felt they had to act in support of Louis XVI. So on August 27th 1791 both Austria and Prussia in collaboration issued the Declaration of Pillnitz. This stated that they wanted to restore the power to the French crown, would use force if necessary to carry out the restoration. -

Created to bring a new constitution to the country of france after the over throw of the monarchy. This would become a new way france has never experienced. -
Execution of a Monarch
webisteOn January 20, 1793, the National Convention sentenced Louis XVI to death, his execution set for the next day. Louis spent that evening saying goodbye to his wife and children. He took a two hour carraige ride to where he would be executed. -
Reign of Terror
A time of introduction to the guillotine. This led to the deaths of many people for unjust reasons. These new public executions were now considered educational. -
The Directory

Exile to Elba

Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled by the Allied governments to Elba. He was allowed a personal escort of about 1000 men, a household staff and was even given the title Emperor of Elba and rule over the islands 110,000 people. People thought this was the end of him but later he will come back. -
