The tennis court oath
The Tennis Court Oath was a result of growing discomfort in the third estate in France and king Louie the XVI wanting to keep the control of the country. Deputies of the third estate were together for a meeting to discus reforms proposed by Necker the prime minister. The reforms would give the third estate a larger vote in the estates general. when the members of the third estate arrived for the discussion they found it locked. instead they moved there meeting to an indoor tennis court. -
The Deceleration of the Rights of Man
On august 26 1789 the french national assembly released the Déclaration des droits de l'homme et du citoyen the declaration of right of man.this defined the the peoples individuality and and the rights in the french revolution. some of the members in the assemble expressed their fondness of the united states deceleration of independence, but it was rejected by the ancient characters of liberties. -
Execution of a Monarch
after being convinced of a conspiracy with some foreign powers and condemned to death by the guillotine in Paris. the french national convention sentenced King Louis XVI to this. nine months later Marie Antoinette was convicted of treason and October 16 she was also executed by the guillotine. -
The Reign of Terror
with the civil war spreading from the Vendee and with hostile armies surrounding France the revolutionary government decided to make "Terror". the order and make harsh measures against the suspects of enemies of the revolution. in Paris executions came in waves, in provinces representatives with the mission and surveillance committees instructed local "terrors". -
The constitution of 1795
it is the constitution during the Thermidorian Reaction in the french revolution. it is sometimes known as constitution of year III in the french calendar witch was made by the Thermidorian convention. it was much more conservative than the abortive democratic Constitution of 1793. -
Napoleon becomes consulate
the government made the coup of 18-19 during the revolution. the constitution of year VIII created an executive consisting of three consuls but Napoleon wielded all the power while the two others were merely figureheads. the branch was given powers to create new laws, but the legislative branch became just a symbol. -
Concordat of 1801
an agreement reached on July 15 1801 between Napoleon and papal clerical representatives in Rome and Paris defining the roman catholic church in France. ending the breach caused by the church reformers acted upon during the revolution. the concordat was first announced on Easter day, 1802. -
Battle of trafalgar
a naval engagement of the Napoleonic Wars that established British supremacy for over a 100 years. it was fought in Cape Trafalgar, Spain. a fleet of 33 ships 18 of witch were french and 15 of witch were Spanish fought a fleet of 27 British ships. -
The invasion of Russia
after taking power in 1799 French leader Napoleon won several military victories that gave him control over most of Europe. he toke over most of present day Belgium and Holland along with some of present day Italy. in 1712 the emperor raised a massive army of troops the first of witch entered Russia. -
Battle of Waterloo
this was Napoleon’s final defeat ending 23 years of warfare between France and most of Europe. it was fought in the span of 100 days of Napoleon’s restoration.it was fought between Napoleon’s 72,000 troops and the combined forces of the duke of Wellington’s allied army of 68,000 and about about 45,000 Prussians.
