On the 4th of august 1789, it abolished feudal rights
A few days later, it published the declaration of the rights of man and citizen.
In September 1791, France's first written constitution ended royal absolutism, establishing a constitutional monarchy. Under the separation of powers, legislative power was held by the assembly. -

opposition to the constitutional monarchy
The legislative Assembly was formed in October 1791 and France now had constitutional monarchy. However, this assembly lasted for less than a year, and failed to attract much support. In 1792, Austria and Prussia declared war on France. In August 1792, there was an insurrection. -

The birth of the French Republic
the national convention governed France from September 1792. this assembly was elected by all adult males, this convention abolished the monarchy immediately and France become a republic. In the January 1793 Louis XVI was killed by guillotine. -

The reign of terror
Maximilien Robespierre assumed all powers, and established a dictatorship. A revolutionary tribunal called Committee of public safety was stablished. This tribunal tried people who were suspected of opposing the republic, even if there was no proof against them. They were sentenced to death by the guillotine, around 50000 people were executed. -

The directory
Following the execution of the most radicals revolutionaries, a new constitution established limited suffrage based on property ownership. A moderate government was led by a five-member Directory while legislative power was held by two chambers. this regime had a lot of support in all sides:
