National Assembly established
The National Assembly was established on February 22, 1787. It was established by the third estate. The third estate invited delegates from the first and second estates to help create a new constitution. -
Meeting of the Estates General
This meeting was held to talk about problems within France. They talked about political and economic reforms. Money, tax, and problems within the three estates were also discussed. -
Tennis Court Oath
The Third Estate was locked out of the courtroom by the First and Second Estates. They were very angry and decided to hold their own meeting on an old tennis court. Until France had a new constitution the First Estate was not leaving. -
Storming of the Bastille
On this day, Parisian revolutionaries and mutinous troops took over the royal fortress called the Bastille. This violent event started the French Revolution. A lot of people died on this day because of the Storming of the Bastille. -
Women´s March on Versailles
A large group of women gathered around and demanded for bread to feed their families. The King promised to put bread out into the crowd and talk with some of the women. This lead to the King taking his family and moving to Paris. -
Civil Constitution of the Clergy
The Civil constitution of the Clergy was passed by the National Constituent Assembly. The Assembly was trying to fix things within the Catholic church. They also wanted to make Catholicism the state religion. -
Beheading of Louis XVI
Many people did not agree with the way King Louis XVI did things. His wife, the queen was also not very popular. The National Assembly voted on the beheading of Louis XVI and he was then executed using the guillotine. -

The Reign of Terror was a time of violence that took place at the start of the French Revolution. During the Reign of Terror many people were executed for various reasons. Robespierre was trying to protect the country from invaders. -
Napoleonic Control
Napoleon Bonaparte was the leader of the First French Empire. The French Empire had many military victories. During this time there were wars that went on that were named the Napoleonic Wars.
