It was unsafe in Versailles. The women their made the king and queen flea so they could be safe. -
Louis XVI is executed
The king was held a prisoner for 3 years. He was then killed by the guillotine. -
Reign of Terror
A group of people killed anyone who agreed with the royals. They often used the guillotine. -
The National Convention is Formed
The people who opposed the king formed this. It was a republic system. -
Declaration of war against Austria
France went to war with Austria. This was Marie Antoinette's original kingdom that she lived in. -
The Thermidorian Reaction
This was a group of people who did not like the reign of terror. They tried to find a way to stop it. -
The Directory is Formed
Was a way to help the government. Ends up getting over thrown by Napoleon. -
Napoleon Takes power
Napoleon over threw the directory. People wanted him to rule them. -
Napoleon Invades Russia
His biggest mistake was invading Russia in the winter. He entered with over 100,000 troops and came back with less than half. -
Napoleons defeat at Waterloo
His last battle was at Waterloo. After he lost they sent him to an island to live the rest of his life.
