The Meeting of the Estates General was a very historic and important meeting. The meeting involved all 3 estates and was used as a time to talk about the current financial state of France and how they could change it. -
the Storming of the Bastille
The storming of the Bastille took place in June during the National Assembly's rising. This was a political symbol from the public because Bastille was an armory and political prison. -
Tennis Court Oath
During the Meeting of the Estates General, the third estate began to call themselves the National Assembly. They vowed to never separate their power until a constitution is put in place. The leader of the Nation Assembly was comete de Mirabeau, a french radicalist. -
The Declaration of Rights
Frances Declaration of Rights was passed in August of 1789 as a result of the Meeting of the Estates General. This declaration was heavily influenced by the moves the newly made United States was making, This document states basic rights of all French Citizens. -
March of Versailles
This was a march comprised of mostly women who were rioting over the outrageous price of bread and how dwindling the resources were to get it. Eventually, the crowd came to the thousands and they stormed a french armory and got weapons to defend themselves. -
Reign of Terror
This was a bloody fight between two different groups of people. This conflict involved many mass executions and revolts against enemy territory. These executions killed around 40,000 people. -
The Rise of Napoleon
Napoleon was a french military leader who conquered most of then european territories during the early 19th century. Napoleon has been one of the most successful military leaders of all time. He waged wars with other countries and would win. -
The Congress of Vienna
The Congress of Vienna was originally a 4 week long event in which all of the major countries that France had defeated, would meet up and discuss terms of peace. This ended up being an 8 month long ordeal and became a place that France would disperse the land back to the countries. France made it very clear during this time that they wanted to be a peaceful country and that they just wanted everything to be fair and equal. France also began to contemplate a new for of government. -
Napoleons Empire Collapse
Napoleon lost his first battle in Waterloo too the Duke of Wellington. Napoleon had sent 72,000 troops to fight the Dukes 68,000 man army. This was a battle he should have won. Unfortunately, he lost for the first time ever. After this battle, Napoleon began to lose his power.
