    The National Assembly believed that the Church needed to change or be ruined,because the Catholic Church was seen as a large part of the old order. The National Assembly was all about the new, and the Church was in the way. Cause of Money the National Assembly seized and sold the lands of the Church. the French Government now controlled the church. Many Catholics became enemies of the Revolution.

    National Assembly, TENNIS COURT OATH
    the Third Estate went to the meeting only to find the meeting place door to be locked.the Third Estate decided to go a nearby tennis court and swore they would continue to meet. they Third Estate decided to create a new constitution, so created the Tennis Court Oath. stating that they would not leave the room until they created a new constitution. Also they decided to give themselves a new name. from now on they would be know as the National Assembly.

    the peasant revolts and fear of foreign troops had a strong effect on the National Assembly, which was meeting in Versailles. The National Assembly first act was to take away relics of Feudalism, or aristocratic privileges. On August 4, 1789, the National Assembly voted to abolish the rights of Landlords. Also to take away the financial privileges of the nobles and clergy.

    Declaration of the Rights of Man
    this was a Constitution inspired by the American Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. This charter begins with affirmation of "the natural and imperscriptible rights of man". Reflecting Enlightenment thoughts, the Declaration went on to proclaim freedom and equal rights for all men based on talent. Freedom of speech and the press were affirmed.

    The Women’s March
    Thousands of Parisian women would angry over the rising prices of bread. So they showed their anger to the King and Queen. They broke into the palace killing some guards. The women demanded that the King and Queen return to France. King Louis XVI agreed after some time.
