    The first revolt against the king, this was followed by the assembly of the Estates General of Dauphiné. Then the royal treasury was declared empty, this started lots of problems.

    The third estate was carrying the weight of the other two estates, this caused stain on them. The non-aristocratic members of the Third Estate now represented 98 percent of the people but could still be outvoted by the other two bodies. Then they tried to set some of the rules.

    The third estate met together and vowed not to disperse until constitutional reform had been achieved.

    During the revolution something called the great fear swept the countryside and made all of the peasants angry and scared, so they took action. They went to the Bastille prison and demanded the generals to surrender, they did and they revolutionary’s took the Bastille.

    An assembly to adopted the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. The system based on equal opportunity, freedom of speech, popular sovereignty and representative government.

    The political clubs were radical revolutionaries who plotted the downfall of the king and the rise of the French Republic. They are often associated with a time during the French Revolution called “The Terror”.

    King Louis XVI and his family wanted to leave Paris, so they could start a war with Paris and Austria. King Louis XVI wife was born in Austria and she was apart of the royal family there, so they wanted to make there way to Austria. They were stopped and arrested before they could get there.

    King Louis XVI was put on trial for treason. Had been helping Austria win the war, he had been sending letter telling them Frances movements. King Louis XVI was found guilty and he was killed by the guillotine.

    There were problems in Frances military, so they appointed a new leader that was young and successful. It was a general named Napoleon Bonaparte.

    The new Constitution is approved
    The French made a new constitution, the new one fixed things that the previous one lacked.
