    The Bastille was a fortress-prison in Paris that was seen as a symbol of the Bourbon monarchy’s tyranny. On July 14, 1789, the people of France stormed the Bastille in an attempt to gain weapons and ammunition for their cause.

    The Legislative Assembly was the legislature of the Kingdom of France from 1 October 1791 to 20 September 1792 during the years of the French Revolution. It provided the focus of political debate and revolutionary law-making between the periods of the National Constituent Assembly and of the National Convention.

    The Ancient Regime was the political and social system of France prior to the French Revolution. Under the regime, everyone was a subject of the king of France as well as a member of an estate and province.
