First use of guillotine
Well the first poor unfortunate soul to get the CHOP. His crime was Robbery and Murder, and his name Pelletier. The guillotine was not finished when he was sentence but the judge and the absolute "saint" he was asked that it be finished faster. His reason being "in the name of humanity, unfortunate man condemned to death, who realizes his fate and for whom each moment that prolongs his life must be a death for him." . At his death the crowd was actually disappointed. -
The Rights Of man
Laid the groundwork for the ideal French Democracy. It was built off the philosophy's of The Enlightened thinkers. -
The Wives’ March; Louis “kidnapped” back to Paris
A rumor had spread that there was flour with the king and the queen during the famine. Parisian women marched towards Versailles and ransacked the apartment of the queen and cut up the bed. -
National Assembly abolishes the nobility
The National Assembly hated the nobles so much that they made them illegal. They also challenged the church because why not. -
Clergy instructed to swear allegiance to France
Clergy had to choose the country over everything (maybe except God but I think even that was frowned upon). If they didn't it would be bad for them. -
Pope Pius VI condemns the Civil Constitution of the Clergy
They have now pissed off the Pope. I really wish the church would have crusaded but we don't get what we want. The Pope publicly said how much he didn't like it. -
Louis & Marie Antoinette flee; captured at Varennes
They were dumb and took a carriage out of there only to get caught by some revolutionary guards. This of course starts the mayhem of the trial and beheading. -
Declaration of Pillnitz: Austria & Prussia express support for Louis
Long story short they pissed off two countries because they hated nobility so much. Also because Marie came from there, they were afraid they would invade. -
Louis XVI executed
Well we have finally reached the climax, this poor young bro who couldn't have a child for a while and definitely wasn't ready to be king. Was beheaded in front of a cheering crowd where he kept his composure. I say the pride he had was kept and my respect is what he has. -
Marie Antoinette executed
She was thrown in a cage, charged with whatever random charges they could throw in. Unrecognizable from when was royal, and her pride and health stripped from her. Fun fact also died two days from my birthday (so close).
