After Lomiene de Brienne asked Parlement to regester the tax on property on the three estates and they refused. Louis XVI gave in after a year of arguing and valled the Estates General to meet in May of 1789. -

There was a disagreement between the estates over how voting in the Estates General should work. The third estate wanted a vote by head while the first and second wanted a vote by estate. -
