Louis XVI crowned King of France
King Louis XVI was grandson of Louis XV. Louis XVI ruled France, built Versailles, consider a Sun King, believed in divine right, and came up with a estate system. -
Calling of the Estates- General
King Louis XVI idea was to call a meeting for everyone, which he decided to call it Estates General. The Estate General was 3 estates, the first estate was priests and clergy, the second estate was rich landowners, and the third estate was peasants, middle class and poor. But the First and Second estate was exempt from paying taxes and got to live at Versailles while Third estate had to take the burdens of First and Second estates. -
Formation of the National Assembly
The third estate is furious with the First and Second estate by taking their responsibilities. So the third estate met up at a tennis court in Versailles. Which cause them to make any laws and changes they wanted too without King Louis XVI. -
Tennis Court of Oath
It was three days after National Assembly was formed but King Louis XVI was highly upset at the third estate for forming the National Assembly. So he decided to lock out the third estate out of the Versailles. Everyone involved in the National Assembly broke into the indoor tennis court at Versailles, pledged to stay until a new constitution was formed. -
Attack on the Bastille
The Bastille is a state prison in Paris, the Bastille was fortress with 8 towers. The attack on the Bastille was a Parisian mob searching for gunpowder and weapons. -
Great Fear
Great Fear was consider a peasants strike, rumors was surfacing the First and Second Estate hired people to get rid of the peasants. Which immediately cause rage in the peasants. Peasants attack nobles, killed, and stole many possessions. -
French Women force Louis XVI to leave Versailles
The Women March on Versailles was the women complaining and stating their opinion about the bread shortage the women marched into Versailles with pitchforks, pikes, and muskets. Some people are starving while The King and Marie-Antoinette was not helping the people. -
Declaration of war against Austria
France decide to declare war on Austria, the French was lacking many aspects to compete with Austria. Austrian and Prussian armies marched and crossing the frontier of Paris. Threatening that the royal family should be harmed. -
National Convention is formed
National Convention was new formed of constitution since France was reforming itself since the French Revolution. The National Convention wanted to eliminate the idea of monarchy constitution so it decided to make France a republic. -
Louis XVI is executed
King Louis XVI was convicted for treason, was forming alliances with other countries. His execution was to be beheaded at the Place de la Revolution in Paris. To be beheaded with a sharp blade that drops, was often used during the French Revolution. -
Reign of Terror
The Reign of Terror was time period that anyone that is suspect of any betrayal or dishonesty would be dealt with public execution. Also called “fight the enemies of the revolution”. -
Thermidorian Reaction
Thermidorian Reaction was a strong disagreement between The Jacobins over the Committee of Public Safety. Maximilien Robespierre is the leader of the Jacobins. National Concention decides to execute Reoberspierre which cause a lot of Jacobins memebers to be upset and angry with the National Convention especially the ones that was in the movement for Robespierre -
The Directory is formed
The Directory was the revolutionary government in France of the constitution of year three. National Convention approved and put the executive power in a directory of five members and bicameral legislature. -
Napoleon Takes Power
Napoleon took power in France in 1799, takes full control of the Directory. Eventually becomes thr First consul in France. Napoleon Bonaparte was the commander of the French army in Italy. -
Napoleon invades Russia
Napoleon wanted control of everything. He wanted war to come to an end so Napoleon thought the best idea was to invade Russia since he conquer most other nations. But Russia was refusing to work with Napoleon. Napoleon troops suffer because of harsh climate and lack of supplies. -
Battle of Waterloo
The Battle of Waterloo is battle betweem Napoleon Bonaparte and British and Prussian Army fought in Belgium. Napoleon returns after being exile. Then comes back with a form of army and the two armies fight. British and Prussian Army won the BAttle
