Louis XVI is crowned king of France
Louis XVI was crowned king of France in 1774 with his wife Marie Antoinette by his side. During this time France sank deeper in to debt than ever before. it got so bad that the bankers said they would not lend anymore money to the government. -
Calling of the estates general
This meeting of the estates general was the first meeting since 1614. They were called by the king to help find solutions to the governments financial problems. The meeting ended up ending when the third estate decided to form into a national assmbly. -
Tennis Court Oath
After being locked out of the meeting room the national assembly broke into the tennis courts at Versaille. The members of this group swore that they would stay until they established a new constituion so Louis brought his army. -
Attack on the Bastille
Bastille was a prison in Paris and. People of the city started gathering weapons so they could defend the place that they lived. On July 14th the mob stormed the bastille and destroyed it. -
Great Fear
This was a panic. Basically there were rumors about starving or burning out the popultion. So in self defenese the peasants which were fearful armed them selves. -
formation of the national assembly
This assembly was formed by the representatives of the third estate. During the formation of the national assembly there were speaches made about equality and liberty. These people were actually fearful. -
French Women force Louis XVI to leave Versailles
This march started in market places in Paris and soon the mobs grew into thousands. then they got in the palace and forced the king and his family to go back to paris with them. -
Declaration of war against Austria
The legislative body declared war on Austriaon april 20th 1792. Some people wanted war because they though that it would unify the country. In the begining the french started off bad picked it up along the way. -
The National Convention is formed
The national convention made France a Republic. It abolished or terminated the whole idea of a monarchy. -
Louis XVI is executed
Louis was executed by the guillotine method. He was killed at Place De La Revoltuion. This was one of the greatest events of the french revolution. -
Reign of Terror
The reign of Robespierre was known as the Reign of terror. During this time him and his people did all that they could to eliminate any threats. $0,000 people died during this time period. Robespierre was finally killed in 1794. -
The Thermidorian Reaction
This was a revolt withing the french revolution. it started when thenational convention decided to vote to execute several member of the revolutionary government. -
The Directory is formed
The directory was Frances government during the penultimate part of the french revolution. There were five directors who had great leadership. the directory was overthrown by Napoleon. -
Napoleon Takes power
When Napoleon took power in 1799 he installed himself as the first consul. He gave himself very little restriction on his control on france. He was an emporer and reigned from 1804-1814. -
Napoleon Invades Russia
Also known as the Patriotic war of 1812 it began as napoleons grand army crossed the Neman river. He wanted to convince russia not to trade with british merchants and they wanted to liberate poland from Russias threat. -
Napoleons defeat at waterloo
Napoleon was defeated by the duke of Wellington. This brought an end to the Napoleonic era. He returned tp paris on June 20 after his defeat.
