    The Old Regime - Before 1789
    In 1789, the king of France lost power with months. With this change, the French people people feel like they were living in a whole new society. The French people began to refer to this time before the Old Regime(1789). With the Old Regime, the society has been split into 3 groups, or also known as the 3 estates.
  • Bastille

    Once the Persians heard the royal troops were going to take the capital, 800 Persians gathered outside the Bastille prison, asking violently for weapons and gunpowder. After refusing to let the Persians in, the Persians stormed in and killed the commander and 5 guards, but did not succeed to find no weapons or gunpowder. The Bastille became a big symbol within the French Revolution because it sparked the revolution.
  • The Constitution

    The Constitution
    The National Assembly finished writing the Constitution in 1791. The Constitution limited the power the king could have. Instead the power was split into 3 groups the, executive, legislative, and judicial. The King could not do what he was able to do such as making laws or block laws on his own. Tax paying male voters elected members for the Legislative Assembly.
  • War on Austria

    War on Austria
    In April 1792 the threat of foreign invasion brought the attention of the Legislative assembly. The assembly decided to declare war on Austria. The Assembly hoped that they didn't include other countries such as Prussia and German States out of the war, but did not succeed. Other Monarchies like Prussia and Sardinia, came for Austria's support. Soon the Austrian and the Prussian trooped invaded France.
  • Suspending the Office of the King

    In 1792, the Legislative assembly suspended the King from his power. The royal palace was invaded from the Persian Army and King Louis and his family were taken as prisoners.
  • End of the Monarchy

    End of the Monarchy
    Since the failure of the war, along with economic shortages at home. There were mass uprisings in Paris. A group of radicals took control of the Commune (Paris's city government.) The Prussians vowed to destroy Paris, as well as punish the people who would dare to cause harm to the royal family. Finally, on August 10, 1792, the Legislative Assembly suspended the office of the King. The Armed Parisians marched into the Tuileries Palace, they killed the King's guards and imprisoned Louis.
  • Execution of King Louis XVI

    Execution of King Louis XVI
    The execution of King Louis took place in Place de la Révolution. King Luois was charged for treason, therefore the National Convention demanded the punishment to be death. Before his death, King Luois escaped from France to go to Austria, but soon go captured in 1792.
  • Execution of Marie Antoinette

    Execution of Marie Antoinette
    After Marie Antoinette dethronement of Queen, she was imprisoned. Marie attempted to esacape to Austria in 1791, but soon got captured by Revolutionary Forces and brought back to France. Then the French Monarchy made the decision to condemn Marie of Treason. France used the blade of the guillotine to behead Marie Antoinette in 1793
