Meeting of the Estate-General
Representatives from each of the three estates met to discuss the government's financial issues. The three estates were the clergy, the nobles, and the commoners. This lead to the thrid estate (commoners) forming the National Assembly because of the clergy and nobles teaming up against the commoners. This was the start of the French Revolution. -
Storming of Bastille
On July 14, 1789 the French started revolting with a large group people storming the prision of Bastille. There they gathered arms and ammunition. One of the people from the Royal Army was dragged and then his head was cut off and put onto a pike. -
Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen
This document was created to state the rights that every individual man has. These were collective rights that applied to everyone because everyone was equal. This document was influenced by the doctrine of natural right. -

With Marat's newspaper becoming too radical by encouraging violent behavior, Charlotte Corday killed him while he was taking his bath. She wanted to stop the senseless killings he was promoting Even in his death his legacy carried on and his death only made him more popular. -
Execution of Marie Antoinette
Marie was disliked by the greater majority of France because of her extravagantness. Her husband was killed on January 21 by the guillotine dying at age 38. Like her husband she too was beheaded by the guillotine. She died about two and a half weeks before of her 38th birthday.
