Attack of Bastille
This day marked the offical beginning of the French Revolution. The Bastille in Paris was a fortress and prison that expressed royalty. At the time or the attack, there were only seven prisionors. By attacking, the people showed the higher class that France's politicl system needed to change and be put inthe hands of the people. -
Women March to the Palace of Versailles
Women from the markets thought it wasn't fair that the King lived in leisure, so they stormed the King and Queen's palace in attempt to demand bread. While doing this they also asked the King to live in the town with the people.The King willingly accepted when he thought it would be a short time thing. -
Flee to Varennes
The King and Queen did not like where they were and didn't want to go back to their palace, so the fled without telling anyone. They were eventually caught and were not favored by the people after the huge scene. -
Kings Passes New Constitution
King Louis XVI has accepted the new proposal of the French Constitution. On September 15, he signed it. -
Fall of the National Assembly
This marked the day that the constitution came into affect and, France was officaly a constitutional monarchy. The National Assembly was replaced by the Legislative Assembly. -
France declares War on Austria
France's King was in favor of the war because he thought it would be easy for anyone to overthrow his monarchy. He and his army flede at the sight of the enemy. -
King Louis XVI Gets Arrested
Jacobin, leader of radicals, stormed the Tuileries Palace. The King is taken and imprisoned. -
The King is Executed
From the start of his ruling, King Louis XVI had always had trouble keeping up with finance of France. The King was sent to the guilotine and, was executed for high treson. -
Rise of Napoleon
The National Assembly appointed an offical leader to govern France. Parliment appointed the successful military general, Napoleon Bonaparte. -
Official Ending of the French Revolution
France was facing a money crisis and relied on the military to hold the government together. Napoleon Bonaparte later fired the Directory and elected himself as the offical "first consul." This marked the end of the French Revolution.
