    Causes of French Revolution
    One cause for the French Revolution was conflict between the Monarchy and the Nobility over the "reform" of the tax system. A second cause of the French Revolution would be the Aristocracy and the Bourgeoisie social antogonisms. A third cause for the French Revolution would be the economic hardships including the agrarian crisis generating discontents and disorders caused by food shortages.     Tennis Court Oath
    The Tennis court Oath was made saying that the 3rd estate would keep meating at this tennis court until the D.R.M was completed. The 3rd estate held to there oath and continued meeting at the tennis court. Link: French Revolution notes.
  • Creation of the National assembly

    Creation of the National assembly
    France ran out of money and the King called a meeting of the estates general to vote on if the 1st and 2nd estates should pay taxes. The 1st and 2nd estates both voted no on them paying yaxes and outvoted the 3rd estate. The 3rd estate stormed out of the meating and made their own parliment called the "National Assembly", to truly represent the French people. Link: Information from French Revolution notes.
  • Attack on the Bastille

    Attack on the Bastille
    A groupe formewd of craftsmen and salesmen decided to fight back against the king "destabillizing" the newly proclaimed parlimentarians and attacked the Bastille for gunpowder and other amunition. The revolutionaries enterd the Bastille and the guards were orderd to shoot, killing hundreds of people.     D.R.M
    The National Assembly was forced to meet at a tennis court near by. The National Assembly made a document to display the rights that the french people should have.   • Bread March

    Bread March
    Thousands of women marched 12 miles to versailles to get food and make King Louis 16 sign the D.R.M. The women were armed with about whatever the could find: Broom sticks, lances, pitchforks, etc. The women broke down the gates and cut off the guards heads, putting them on pikes.     Royal Escape
    The king, his wife, and their two kids were on house arrest and the King was being forced to sign over more and more of his power. One night, the King and his family decided to try and leave Paris and go to Austria. Just as they made it to the Austrian border they were spotted and brought back to Paris.     Reign of Terror
    As a result of the French losing the war, the French Gov. started killing anyone who was against the French Revolution. 40,000 people were sent to the Guillotine to be killed, including Marie Antoinette.     Napolean rose through military ranks his entire life. He became leader of the French army in Italy. Napolean is conciderd one of the greatest generals in all of history because of him leading France in taking Egypt from Great. Link: French revolution notes.
  • Death of King Louis 16

    Death of King Louis 16
    On the twentieth of Janurary, the National Convemtion condemed Lousi XVI to death for the next day. The night before his death, he spent saying goodbye to his wife and kids. At eight o'clock on the Twenty First, Louis XVI took an two-hour ride to where he would be executed. Link: French Revolution notes
