Louis XIV
Louis XIV abolished the Edict of Nantes which caused many Hugenots to flee France. This made some people of France angry. -
Death of Louis XIV
Louis XIV died leaving his country in debt from the money he spent supporting the arts. Many people were distraught after this because the arts had brought them much joy. -
Louis XV
Louis XV died leaving an even bigger debt from all of the wars France was in during his reign. He proved to be a great leader despite having debt. -
French Revolution and Estates-General
Louis XVI called Estates-General to a meeting in Versailles to approve a tax plan. This in general, started the French Revolution. -
Tennis Court Oath
The Third Estate declared themselves the National Assembly and made the Tennis Court Oath. This was a pivotal event during the first days of the French Revolution. The Oath was a pledge signed by 576 of the 577 members from the Third Estate who were locked out of a meeting of the Estates-General on 20 June 1789. -
Declaration of the Rights of Man
The National Assembly issued the Declaration of the Rights of Man. This is a fundamental document of the French Revolution, defining the individual and collective rights of all the estates of the realm as universal. Influenced by the doctrine of "natural right", the rights of man are held to be universal: valid at all times and in every place, pertaining to human nature itself. -
Constitution of Clergy
The Civil Constitution of the Clergy was passed. This was a law passed on 12 July 1790 during the French Revolution, that subordinated the Roman Catholic Church in France to the French government. -
National Convention FIrst Meeting
The National Convention held their first meeting. This comprised the constitutional and legislative assembly. It held executive power in France during the first years of the French First Republic. -
Louis XIV death
Louis XVI sentanced to the guillotine. This event sort of explains itself so I am not going to provide a reason. -
Reign of Terror
The Reign of Terror court sentanced 20,000 to 40,000 people to death. This was a period of violence that occurred after the onset of the French Revolution, incited by conflict between rival political factions, the Girondins and the Jacobins, and marked by mass executions of "enemies of the revolution." -
The End
The French Revolution came to an end after a 10 year battle. The death toll was 40,000 in total.
