meeting at Versailles
Louis was forced to hold a meeting of the Estates General to fix the money problems. It was the first meeting in 175 years. I think this was important because if it was the first meeting in almost two centuries which is clearly a cause for concern. -
National Assembly established
The national assembly was formed to be the voice of the people in a way. there were two estates and this would be the third. they were referred to as the national assembly. I think this is important because it helped abolish monarchy. -

Parisian women riot over price of bread
"Parisian women rioted over the rising price of bread. Brandishing knives, axes, and other weapons, the women marched on Versailles. First, they demanded that the National Assembly take action to provide bread. Then they turned their anger on the king and queen. They broke into the palace, killing some of the guards." A Limited Monarchy
The National Assembly created and completed a new constitution. This constitution created a limited monarchy. This deprived the King from as much authority. I think this is important because anytime something this drastic and new comes into an entire nation its important. -
Olympe de Gouges
Olympe de Gouges published a list of what she felt were womens rights. Once the ideas were out they were rejected. She was found to be a threat and was executed. I think this is important because not many women spoke up about their rights this long ago. -
Napoleon appointed leader
Napoleon was underminded his whole life. After years of training and schooling he was eventually appointed leader of an army going into the Alps. His troops may have been defeated but his stories and bravery made him a hero in his home. He eventually would become the ruler of not just an army troop but his nation. -
Emperor Napoleon
Napolean decided to crown himself emperor in 1804 The people of france agreed with him on his decison. He was now more powerful than the pope.
