  • Deficit spending by the government and economic reform.

    The Seven years’ War and the American Revolution strained at the french treasury. In France the first and second classes were living lavish lives with out paying taxes. Louis XVI tried to fix the the problem by putting heavier taxes on the third class which was made up of most of the country he also picked a financial expert for a advisor Jacques Necker. Necker proposed taxing the First and Second classes and to abolish the burdensome tariffs on internal trade. In 1789 dept piled up.

    As the king Louis XVI increased the tax on bread. The poor people started riots because bread was a month pay. The Noble were fearful of the taxes they did not want to pay them. finally Louis got the Estates General to meet at Versailles for the following years. Louis XVI hierd a man named Jacques Necker to help with financials. When Necker told the king his plan to make everyone pay taxes even the Nobles the king fired Necker. That mad the people mad and they took over.

    On July 14,1789 the people had it with Louis XVI, they stormed the bastille. everyone that was mad came to fight even the women. The ladies were big, strong, hard working people. There was a lot of people that were mad at the king for the taxes on bread and other things too. They even killed a one guard and marched around the town with his head on a stick. The people wanted change they no longer wanted the king to be in power. The people wanted to be in power and do what the wanted to do.

    The two monarchs threatened to intevene to protect the french monarchy. The monarchs moved into the battlefield, eager to spread the revolution. The events in France stirred all over Europe, this spread fear all over France people were attacks were reported.

    In a combative all-night meeting, Nobles voted to end their own privileges. They agreed to give up their old manorial dues, exclusive hunting rights, special legal status, and exemption from taxes. Proud and weary delegates finally announced that Feudalism is abolished. The Assembly issued the Declaration of the Rights of Men and Citizen.The French Declaration announced “All men were born and remain free and equal in rights.”The Declaration proclaimed all male citizens were equal befor the law.
