    Corrupt Leadership

    Corrupt leaders came to power, including Napolean, who took over France and added it to his existing empire
  • Meeting of Estates General

    After problems arose in France, King Louis XVI called the meeting, Estates General, for the first time in 100s of years. This was to discuss a new form of taxing to be made
  • Tennis Court Oath

    After the Third Estate was kicked out of the Esates General for holding a National Assembly, they began meeting in a tennis court to plan and write their own constitution.
  • Fall of Bastille

    Members of the Third Estate stormed the Bastille to rescue captive members, and to assult the guards of the 2nd Estate. However, only a few people were in the prison.
  • The Great Fear

    Problems arose when rumors began being spread about the change in government, and a time of great paranoid came about.
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen

    A document listing the basic human rights that the citizens of France were intitled to. Written to influence the power of the Third Estate citizens.
  • Declaration of Rights and Man

    The Third Estate wrote a document, declaring basic rights that they deserved and were taking back from royalty.
  • March of Versailles

    After Marie Antoinette said to the Third Estate people, "Let them eat cake", the palace of Versailles was raided. People went in to capture the Queen and King of France and imprisoned them.
  • Civil Constituion of the Clergy

    The clergy of France were forced to abide to the new leaders of France, the 3rd Estate.
  • Royal Family Flees

    Louis and Marie try fleeing Paris to go to Austria, but are captured on the border of Paris. This started the French Austria War.
  • French Austria War

    Austria declared war on France after the capture of Marie and Louis. However, France beat Austria after Napolean was the general of the France's army
  • Declaration of Republic

    After Louis was overthrown as king, France was finally declared a a republic country. This was thanks to them defeating Austria.

    Held place during the Estates General, by the Third Estate to discuss their own decisions since the second and first estates always teamed up together.
  • Trial of Louis XVI

    After a reign of being a terrible leader and being overthrown, Louis was faced with a trail to see consequences he faced. This resulted in his excecution.
  • Committee of Public Safety

    Created by the National Convention, the Committee of Public Safety was made to form the de facto executive government in France during the Reign of Terror.

    Reign of Terror

    France becamce a very unstable country after all the celebreation that happened from getting rid of their leaders. However, they were already a poor country due to their past leader's decisions, further digging France into a ditch.
  • Moderate Constitution of 1795

    A national constituion for France written to establish a liberal republic with a taxing franchise, similar to a bicameral legislature. It remained in effect until 1799.
  • Napolean Returns to France

    Napolean returns home to France after helping out in the French Austria war. This led to him overthrowing the current 5 man Directory.
  • Rise of Napolean

    Napolean and his army took over France, and Napolean became the new leader, adding France to his empire.
