Henry the IV was born in Pau in December 14, 1553. During his childhood, he was baptised as a Catholic but grew up as a protestant because of his mother, Queen Joan III of Navarre. His father was Antonine de Bourbon, Duke of Vendome, King of Navarre. -

Married Magaret of Valois
After the death of Henry IV's mother, King Henry III quickly decided that Henry IV needed to be married. Magaret of Valois was a Catholic princess. The location of the wedding was at Paris, France in the Notre Dame Cathedral. -

St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre
The massacure started a few days after the wedding of Henry IV and Margaret of Valois. Several thousands of Protestants were killed by the Catholics. Henry, being bron as a protestant, nearly esacped for his life. He would have not been alive if it hadnt been for his wife. -
Henry of Bourbon Becomes King
After King Henry III died, Henry IV inherited the crown of France. -
Spanish Netherlands
Spanish Netherlands tried to take over Paris but failed because of the help of another spanish army and won the Battle of Craon in 1592. -
Maria De Medici
Henry IV married again after his first wife's died. Maria was from Florence, Italy and the daughter of Grand Duke of Tuscany. Maria was the queen who bore the future king of France: Prince Louis III at Fontainbleau the same year she was married. -

Future king of France born. He was the first French king to have absoulte power (Divine Right). -
Henry IV died
King Henry was well liked by many. Although not everyone liked him. On May 14, 1610, King Henry was murdered by Francois Ravaillac and later burned at Saint Denis Basilica. His wife, Maria De Medici became a regent for seven years to King Henry's heir: Louis XIII. -

In 1610, Louis removed Concino Conici, a political advisor for his mother, Maria De Medici. Making his Bourbon Dynasty to expand. -
King Louis XIII is married to Princess Anne of Austria
Married in Hapsburg. Anne gave a son to King Louis XIII after 20 years of marriage. When Louis died, his wife become a Regent for their son, Louis XIV. -

Anne of Austria became Louis XIV's Regent until he was officially come of age. Louis XIV's father tried to prevent Anne to have power over France but failed. Although, once she was given the power, she signed over the power to the prime minister, Jules Mazarin. -
Louis XIV married Maria Theresa of Spain
In the year of 1660, Louis married Maria Theresa of Spain but the marriage didn't last long because of her death in 1683. Soon he married Francoise d'Aubigne, marquise de Maintenon. -

The French army tried to take over the Habsburg-controlled Spainsh Netherlands. After a year, France won and took some territory in the Flanders. -
Louis XIV built the Versailles
It was a way for the French to obtain and show off his plan to centralize power. In May 6, 1682, he moved the court of france to Versailles. -
