National Assembly making the 1st constitution
While the other half of the 3rd estate was charging the bastille, the other half went to the tennis court and formed the National Assembly. There they established the declaration of rights of man and citizen and wrote the first constitution. -
End of the Bourbon monarchy
When Louis XVI went into serious debt he stopped caring about the people. They were upset with what he was doing and started rioting. Louis was later executed. -
Storming of the Bastille
When the people of the 3rd estate are fed up with the government, half of them charge the Bastille. They did this because they saw it as a sign of oppression, they thought there were weapons there, and they went to free the debtors. -

Duration of the National Convention.
The National Convention was elected to govern France in 1791 after the overthrow of the monarchy. They wanted to keep a constitutional monarchy so anybody that went against the idea, the leader Maximilien Robespierre would kill them by way of the guillotine. -

Committee of Public Safety conducts the Reign of Terror
As Robespierre gets carried away and kills more and more people, France went into terror. This time was the Reign of Terror which protected France from internal enemies. -

Term of Directory Government
The government was plagued with corruption and severe national economic problems. It would soon be overthrown by Napoleon. -
Second constitution establishes Directory Government
The Directory Government ruled after the committee of public safety after Robespierre was killed. It was established because of the constitution. -
Napoleon conducts Coup d'etat against the Directory- establishes Consulate govt.
The Directory was replaced in a coup d'etat which was a violent overthrow of the govt by Napoleon. He established the consulate govt. which was split into 3 consuls even though Napoleon took full control.
