French and Indian War
Seven year war that made the colonists angry due to the money they lost and the aftermath. The war ended with the treaty of Paris. -
Sugar Act
The molasses act, which changed the price of imports from 6 cents per gallon to 3 cents. They started enforcing this more. Colonists grew angry at this once they realized more acts were being putting in place. -
Stamp Act
Declared that all printed material had to carry a stamp. The stamp gained revenue for Britain, in October congress boycotted British goods. Colonists decided to boycott more. -
Declaratory act
Basically showing that the British had power. The British didn’t want to tax but did anyways. Colonists were beginning to grow tired of the constant laws. -
Townshend Act
This prevented smuggling. Colonists did not like the smuggling. Women got in on the act with boycotting. -
Tea Act
Tax exemptions and rebates on tea coming in from British east India company. The colonists were so angry because of principle. Tea was so important, which showed that the British could tax anything. -
Revolutionary War
After dealing with so much from the British and after boycotting so much the colonists finally decided to shoot in Lexington.
