  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    Also known as the 7 Years War ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. This angered the colonists as they could not take land from indians and it left a war debt.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act extended the molasses act by changing the tax from 6 cents to 3 cents a gallon but the tax was enforced by getting rid of smuggling. The colonist began protests as they were angry because there was taxation without representation.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This was act made every printed material had to include a stamp and of course the stamps were not free. The colonies reaction had protesters organize the Stamp Act Congress to boycott British goods and the Stamp act was then repealed.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    This came after the repeal of the Stamp Act stating that the colonies can be taxed the same as in Great Britain. The colonists were once again angered as they had no representation in this act.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    This added more taxes such as a tax on tea, and it stopped smuggling which the colonist did not like. More boycotting took place and after the Sons of Liberty were already created the Daughters of Liberty were created and set action through the colonies to have clothes and such made from themselves.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    This tax created exemptions and rebates which lowered the price of tea but made the tea cheaper in quality. Tea was a big deal in the colonies and lower quality tea caused the colonists to dress up as Indians and dump tea into the Boston harbor causing a modern loss of $4 million.
  • American Revolutionary War

    American Revolutionary War
    Started when British and Massachusetts militia men met and fought a Concord and Lexington and this is where The "Shot Heard 'Round the World". Though colonists technically lost this war, their morale was boosted as they showed they can stand up to British forces.
