American Revolution
Paul Revere's Ride was one of the major events that brought the colonist to write the Declaration of Independence. The war was fought all through the colonies for several years. Many lives were lost both the red coats and the confederates. The war official dates were 1775 -1783 -
Declaration of Independence
Purpose: declare the 13 colonies as independent states, free from rule by Great Britain.
Reasons:
1. People have the right to control their own government
2. King used his power to control the colonies
3. Equality, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness -
Constitution
Purpose: Outline the powers of government. This document defines the values, and principles of government and limits of powers over the people. -
Bill of Rights
Purpose: restrict the powers and authority of the federal government and establish basic rights to the people. Consist of the first 10 admendments, ratified by 3/4 of the colonies.
